Easy to use, secure anti-virus program
After having my personal attacked by a nasty virus that absolutely infiltrated my system, I installed this Norton program and was really pleased with the results! The installation itself was relatively swift and easy, as the step-by-step instructions guided me through apiece screen without any glitches. Now the program’s been on my personal for a few weeks, and seems to be working pretty well. Overall I’ve had a positive experience with the Norton programs, and this one seems to be just as good.

5 stars for Customer Support – when was the last time you heard that?
I’ll adopt that any prospective purchaser will have already evaluated Norton versus other security software. This is NOT a review of the software (which I happen to like) but a review of Norton’s customer support.
What I can tell you is that Norton’s support staff is dedicated to getting your software up and running. It might take some time and you could argue — I never should have had a problem to start with but I have gotten great technical support from Norton on TWO different products, on TWO different occasions, months apart.
History: I own three PCs. I bought Norton World wide web Security 2009 edition/1 User/3 personal and at a later date – Norton World wide web Security 2010 edition/1 User/3 PCs. In apiece case the software installed perfectly on 2 out of 3 PCs.
In apiece case – 12 months apart – I had a problem installing the software on a third PC. The software simply would not install.
It took a bit of time but I contacted Norton tech support on-line. We engaged in a chat session and the Norton tech staff took control of my personal (with my permission). While it took over 2 hours – in apiece case – the Norton technicians fixed my problem. While it certainly was not fast and you could argue the problem should never have occurred – I really feel Norton should be congratulated for taking ownership of the problem until it was fixed. BTW – In apiece case – it was a different problem. Norton technical staff stuck with the problem, were always extremely polite and never quit until the software was up and running.
Kudos to Norton on their technical support! As you evaluate security software keep in mind the better technical support I’ve experienced on two very different occasions, months apart from Norton.
The one criticism I have regarding Norton’s technical support is that it is not obvious how to contact their technical support people on-line. You’ll have to hunt through a few web pages to access a chat session with a support person. That access is buried in their self help tutorials, etc.
Nevertheless it is clear that Norton, on two very different occasions, showed a deep commitment to resolving my problem and never quit until my problem was resolved.
When was the last time you heard that about a technical support staff?

Used to be a Norton customer, and went to McAfee in 2006. While using McAfee, I became dissatisfied with the long, long time it took to do a virus scan, plus occasional problems with McAfee classifying certain items as viruses when they weren’t. And I also had problems with using AOL while on McAfee. So, I decided to return to NIS, and bought a multi-user version for flexibility. It came in real handy when we just bought a new PC; I just bought the new personal without any security/virus program, and added the new personal as another individual while setting up the PC. Virus scans are much quicker, and spyware is also targeted and automatically deleted (cookies)in the scan. No problems with AOL, and my new personal is Windows 7 and it works fine.

Norton finally got it right!
For once Norton finally got it right! I had the Norton 360 last year and had all sorts of problems installing it and to work out to get it to run right and quit messing with my other programs. Norton World wide web Security 2010 installed without a single hitch and hasn’t interfered with any of my other programs. First thing it found a Trojan virus and a couple of other virus’s that the Norton 360 missed. I’m just lucky that they hadn’t been in my system very long.
I’ve had it installed for about a month now and it has been working very well. What I really like about this one is all the information I want to see is actually simple to get to from its main window that opens when I click the icon. From it I can look at the scan history, see who and if anybody has tried to get past my firewall, what’s been place in quarantine, and anything else it has found. It runs the updates and background scans without taking up a lot of resources and bogging my personal down. It actually runs so smooth that I don’t even notice when its doing a scan. I’ve used Norton for over 10 years and they have ALWAYS had some problem or other. But so far this version has been running PERFECT AND PROBLEM FREE. The only thing that I don’t like is it doesn’t have the utilities that the Norton 360 had and it removed all of the ones from 360 when it installed. If it still had those I would have gave it 5 stars.

Pleasantly surprised
I have been unhappy with security programs in the past, not because they unsuccessful in their essential conserving tasks, but because they constantly prefabricated their presence known in multiple ways–slowing my personal to a slogging pace, producing popups on the screen just when I was in the middle of challenging work and was trying to think, and–in one case (not Norton)–occupying a ton of space on my taskbar with large, redundant, unsightly icons. But the reviews of the current Norton software all stated that the program was both effective and unobtrusive. And to my surprise, they were right. I hardly know it’s there, and when the program does make itself visible, as when it augmented the spam folder in Outlook, it’s all to the good, making my tasks easier. Kudos. What a relief. My personal zips along and I can relax, without worrying about security.
